Dear Finn and Eamon,
I am writing this blog to you so that I have a place where you can always find my thoughts on some ideas and subjects that I think are important. I think a lot about raising you boys. Very specifically, I think about raising boys, and I think a lot about what this responsibility entails; to raise boys into men. And I think a lot about what it means to be a man, and specifically what it means to be a good man. Because I think that this is very important, and I can’t raise boys into men if I don’t know what being a man means, and I can’t try to mold you into good men without knowing what makes a good man, good. So I think on this question a lot, both for your sake and mine. To be a good man, to try to know what this means, to put into place the habits of self and thought that will help you boys actualize this; to model these habits in words and deeds, these are the motivations that occupy much of my time and thoughts, and energy, and I thought it might be useful to try to organize some of these thoughts into one place for you to find and reflect on as you might need them.
I love you boys more than I love anything in this world. I hope that this blog always finds your hearts full of joy, your minds alive with wonder, and your lives full of people worthy of your love and affection.
